My Girly Weekend

This past weekend was one of the girliest weekends I have had in awhile. Granted, I am usually found doing something girly, but this weekend was non-stop girl stuff.

And I enjoyed it thoroughly!

Most Friday nights for me are nights in. I don't usually make plans for Friday nights because at the end of the work week, all I want to do is veg out at home and RELAX. So I swung by Target to grab some things & picked up Essie's "Ole Caliente" for my at-home mani/pedi.

Saturday morning/afternoon brought about laundry & other house stuff before GIRLS NIGHT OUT! A few of my girlfriends & I were just meeting up for dinner & dessert but I swear I was putting more energy into getting ready for it than I do for a night out with my hubby! ;) Just kidding....I put in effort for him too! But I think it's because when you are married (& all of your friends are married), your schedules aren't as free...so it takes quite the effort to plan a GNO. In any case, I was really excited for it.

Sunday didn't start out so hot - I woke up with a killer headache so I stayed in bed for awhile until I felt better. I had breakfast & relaxed because it was storming outside. The other day I shared a picture on Instagram that was so quintessential South Florida - it was sunny as all heck but it was raining at the same time. Typical. Anyways, I had a baby shower for a friend later on in the afternoon so while I was feeling the urge to stay in my pj's, I got it together.

My weekend ended with Sarah Jessica Parker...in the form of watching her movie, "I Don't Know How She Does It"...finally! This movie has been out forever!

It was cute. Then again, my opinion may be biased because I just love me some SJP!

Memorial Day Weekend 2012

I hope you all enjoyed your Memorial Day weekend! Whether or not this weekend gave you a paid day off from work, I hope you spent a moment to reflect on the lives that were sacrificed for the freedom we enjoy every day in this country. That holds more value than other backyard barbecue ever could!

My husband and I spent our weekend in a rather pleasing, lazy way. Most of the days were spent laying by the pool and soaking up the rays before the rain clouds opened up on us. Seriously, the weather in South Florida is so temperamental!

Aside from that, we went to church, spent quality time with our best friends and played catch up with my cousin & his wife on the phone (currently living in California). Oh and we finally watched the season finale of Revenge! (Is anyone else obsessed with that show?!) And the best part...my hubby treated me to dinner! He feels at home on the grill, so he made steaks with asparagus and baked potatoes. Yum!

Rain, rain and more rain.

That is all we have seen this weekend. While most states are enjoying the changing of leaves on trees and dropping temps, South Florida is still dealing with 80 degree weather and the rain from hurricanes off in the distance. Because of the rain, we have been cooped up inside but we did manage to sneak out a few times whenever the skies cleared up.

Friday night we headed out to a local Cuban restaurant for a traditional pig roast. While restaurant cooking will never be better than my Cuban grandmother's dishes, Padrino's is a nice alternative when home cooking isn't available. The Hubs and I double dated with my parents and for $20 each, we had all the food we could eat along with dessert and mojitos.

Saturday morning involved some pampering courtesy of my lovely hair guru, Andrea. I have been a client of hers for well over 10 years now and I don't trust my tresses to anyone else. She is just the best! M Salon was completely decked out in Halloween decorations and the employees were in full out costume. It was pretty festive!

We drove around to see if we could find a pumpkin for a last minute carving, but every last one left at the patch was just yuck. We did find some chickens though!

Sunday brings church and football. While the hubs gets lost in the football games, I plan to get lost in the stack of fashion magazines that have been neglected. Time for catch up!

Weekend Recap

Another fabulous weekend has come and gone bringing me back to the doom and gloom of work. Ha! In all sincerity, this past weekend was one of the best that we have had in awhile. It was so good that I spent most of Sunday recooperating from a long night of dancing (my feet are still hurting...) and not so much sleep. 

What brought on this lazy Sunday? My cousin's wedding day!

Daniel and Jackie were married Saturday afternoon surrounded by family and friends, many of whom came from out of town for the big celebration. Loads of quality family time was spent, many photos were taken and lots of dancing was done...a wonderful night! 

I will do a wedding post in the next few days, but here is a little sneak peek!

Weekend Recap

So I enjoyed my day of nothing-ness yesterday and it was great! We stayed in all day and caught up on our load of shows on our dvr and then we got ourselves up and out for church that evening. We don't like to "waste" days like that very often, but every once in awhile it just feels right!

We did force ourselves to get groceries and laundry done this morning because we were in serious need of food (and clean clothes) but it was so hard to not repeat yesterday. I made my own version of Philly cheese steaks for lunch - swapped out the steak for chicken and sauteed some mushrooms and onions and then smothered it all in provolone goodness. They were so yum! The Steeler's won their game today so my husband is happy and nothing has been destroyed in the living room (losing games usually result in items being tossed across the room - he gets serious about these games and losses are not taken lightly!). Tonight we are supposed to be heading over to my parents' house to visit with my aunt and her family who are visiting from NYC. It's always good to see out of town family and  my little cousin is growing up so fast!

I will do a post sometime this week on Friday's wedding festivities once I upload pics and all that. Stay tuned!

Weekend Recap

Yesterday was a full day of celebrations for my sweet friend Cheryl. It was her last weekend as a single lady! She and her fiance will be tying the knot on October 07 and yesterday was a entire day spent with the ladies. We had some pretty interesting things take place but overall it was a wonderful day filled with laughter, good company and plenty of lingerie!

We spent some time chatting and taking photos before heading out for lunch. We hopped onto Fort Lauderdale's trolley for a quick ride on our way to a fabulous lunch at Casablanca Cafe. 

(Side note: This was our second lunch location; we left the first restaurant due to HORRIBLE customer service from the staff including the manager. We will certainly be filing complaints!)

After lunch, we went back and enjoyed some desserts and gifted Cheryl with lingerie goodies for her honeymoon. We just enjoyed some laughs and quality girl time that definitely doesn't happen often enough. It was a great day. I can't believe her wedding day is just around the corner!

Today brings yet another Steelers football game but most importantly....fall decorations are coming out! I always start my fall/harvest decorating once October begins. August and September still feel like summer here, so I wait till fall begins. This is truly my favorite time of the year and I love decorating for the holidays. I already set out my pumpkin scented hand soaps and candles so I just need the Mister to grab my jumbo storage bin so I can get the house all set up. I'll do another post this week once it's camera ready!

Weekend Recap

My tv is currently being held hostage by the Steelers football game, my tummy has been filled by a generous bowl of homemade turkey chili and my eyes are getting droopy. This weekend was quite enjoyable - quality time with friends, loads of lounging with the hubs as we tried to clear out our television's dvr (fall season tv has begun & there are lots of shows to play catch up on!), some shopping and a quick little visit from my brother who lives in Orlando. It was a good weekend but it went by way too quickly. Why do they always do that?!

Weekend Recap

Where do the weekends go!? They seem to fly by for me lately. Every single one is usually jam packed filled with get togethers, house projects, errands and other things that take up each and every hour until it's time for me to hit the sack again. This weekend was no exception!

Friday night, the hubs and I ventured out for a sushi dinner and a movie. We were so full after dinner and dessert, we skipped the movie and crashed once we got home. Dinner was really good though. We ate at Ra Sushi - a really dark and loud sushi restaurant not too far from home. The place has a nice vibe and the sushi is pretty good. The only downside is that we need a flashlight to read the menus and megaphones to speak to each other. Just kidding! Well kinda...

I had another spa appointment this week to get my hair done. I walked in a brunette and walked out a redhead! Something a little out of my box but I am liking it for fall.

Sunday's main event was  NFL football. But more specifically a Steeler's football game! Since the hubs is a DIE-HARD Pittsburgh Steeler fan (I'm pretty sure it's in his blood), it has become my duty to become an avid fan myself. Not so easy for someone who could really care less for the game, but it does make him happy when I pay attention to their games! We went to our local staple, Primanti Bros and watched the Steelers shut out the Seattle Seahawks, 24-0. Way to go Steelers!
