Halloween at Work

Remember when I gave you a sneak peek of my Halloween costume for work? Well if you guessed something along the lines of a masquerade ball, then you were correct!
The theme for my department was a Haunted Masquerade Ball - lots of masks, gowns and feathers!

(my work bestie & I)

I was a candy/cigarette girl for this ball, yet I completely forgot to take any solo pictures of myself - especially with my candy/cigarette props! In any case, you can enjoy the other photos I managed to snap throughout the day.

And some other non-masquerade costumes from other departments...

Yep - that's Lil Wayne aka Weezy F Baby

Deadmau5

WWE star Goldust

SNL's Da Bears Superfans

Hellboy

Overall it was a really fun day at work. Everyone really goes all out with their themes and costumes, so it was great to wander around the office and see what everyone came up with. Some teams were super creative (MTV Awards celebs, Candy Land...)!! Awards were given out for individual and team categories - our Haunted Masquerade Ball won second place in the team category!

How did you celebrate Halloween? Did you dress up?

Happy Halloween!

It's Halloween!

I actually can't believe that October 31st is here. I feel like the month completely came in and flew right on by. I didn't even get to putting out my decor for this month!

Today at work we are having a major costume party - each department chose a theme and planned costumes and office decor just for today. My department's theme was a 'Haunted Masquerade Ball' - think a darker version of Phantom of the Opera or the like. I wasn't all into it since Halloween isn't my thing, but this is a sneak peek of my outfit...

Can you guess what my costume was?

Celebrity Costumes

Being that Halloween is a few days away, I am sure many people already have their costumes ready to go. The hubs and I usually stay home and pass out candy to all the little kids in our neighborhood that come looking for sweets, so there isn't really a need to dress up. But while I was surfing the 'net, I came across some pics of the rich and famous and was really impressed with some of their costumes! Some of them keep it pretty easy and low key with looks you could probably put together with things you already have in your closet! Others really go all out and come up with some elaborate looks!
Here are some of my favorites!

Lauren Conrad dressed as a flapper

Stacy Kiebler (and friends) dressed as a mariachi band

Kim K as Snow White

Audrina Patridge dressed as a peacock

Melissa Rycroft (with hubby Ty Strickland) as Snooki & Pauly D

Heidi Klum as Betty Boop

Agree with my picks? Which celeb costume looks have been your faves?

Our Not so Spooky Casa

I thought I would share some of the Halloween decorations that we have set up at home. Like I mentioned before, I'm not really into things that are scary and dark, so my decor approach is pretty simplistic - jack o' lanterns, spiderwebs and all things pumpkin!
Enjoy!

(lighting up our hallway at night)

(these lanterns were originally purchased to be outside our front door last but I brought them in this year & added them to our kitchen bar counter)

(the other side of the kitchen bar counter)

(end table in living room)

(second end table in living room)

(cute little face on the bookshelf)

(coffee table lights)

All items were purchased from Target, Bath & Body Works and Partylite.

Halloweenie

The Urban Dictionary defines "halloweenie" as someone too scared too decorate for Halloween. Yep, that makes me a halloweenie.

October sets the stage for all of the upcoming holidays, beginning with Halloween. I'm not really a fan of the dark and scary stuff that Halloween brings (like goblins, ghosts and skeletons), so I tend to decorate with a 'happier' tone. Pumpkins, scarecrows, spiderwebs and even glitter (yay!) make a presence at my house.

Here are some inspirational photos for a not-so-scary Halloween...

I love this table decor for a dinner party - the combination of metallics, candles & festive colors keep it chic for the adults.

This is perfect for the doorstep or entranceway!
The silly faces on this pumpkin topiary make it fun for the little ones!

The bright colors used here are fresh & modern for a party!
I love the use of glitter and lace!

I love this wreath from Target! It's sold out in my area, but I bet this could be a DIY project!

Personalize your pumpkins with dots and stripes!

Stencil on spiders or other Halloween themes onto candle luminarias for a moonlit glow!

See anything you might re-create for your Halloween decor?
Is this 'happy' decor your thing or do you prefer the scarier scene?
